There has been a close cooperation between the department of urology and the department of radiation therapy at the KLINIK am RING since the beginning of the year 2000. For a number of years, these departments are specifically committed to the treatment of prostate carcinoma.
Responding to the patients’ increasing interests and needs:
In July 2002, the Department of Urology and the Department of Radiation Therapy have both merged with the Departments of Anesthesia, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Pathology to create the West German Prostate Center (WPZ) in the KLINIK am RING.
A special characteristic of the West German Prostate Center is the long-term commitment of the medical team. In contrast to most clinics, which have a high turnover rate of physicians, the medical staff has been working in close cooperation for many years. This ensures a high measure of experience and competence, especially in performing specialized treatments.
Since the beginning of their collaboration, and in addition to other surgeries, together they have performed already more than 4000 brachytherapy treatments on localized prostate carcinoma.
